Hosting a Student

Hosting a student is a great way to increase your income over the summer months as DCE offer €230 per student, per week. The course will run for 3 weeks in July, and we are looking for host families for 2 or 3 weeks. Host families located near bus routes 15, 49, 54A and 65/B or who live within a short distance will be favoured. As we have a limited number of students arriving we advise people to get in touch as soon they can.

DCE are looking for host families based in the Terenure, Templeogue, Rathgar, & Harold’s Cross areas for July. Hosting a foreign student is a great way for your family to build strong relationships with the local community, and is ideal for introducing your kids to somebody from a different culture. And, let’s face it, what Irish person doesn’t love showing off our unique culture?!

Host a student and give your son/daughter the opportunity to improve their Spanish and get a head start for their Junior & Leaving certificate oral exams. DCE will run language exchange meet-ups (afternoons) over July. These meet-ups will focus on the production skills - listening and speaking. Each session will give Irish & Spanish teenagers the chance to practice English and Spanish in a controlled and fun environment.

With a full-time Host Family coordinator, we will be here to help you along the way.

Host Family Testimonials:

"Having an international student join our family was a unique and rewarding experience. Our children took advantage of the 15 hours of free Spanish lessons , which made them excited to practice and learn new phrases! We enjoyed learning about another culture through our student and shared plenty of laughs over cultural differences and similarities. The social program for our student was well-organized and kept them busy with outings and activities, helping them make new friends and explore the area. It truly enriched our home life and left us all with memories we'll cherish." Rachel.

"This summer we hosted 2 international students and it was a really fun experience for our family! We welcomed students from Spain and Italy, and it opened our eyes to new cultures. Our kids loved the opportunity to pick up some Spanish, thanks to the 15 hours of lessons provided, which they found fun and engaging. Our students had a packed social programme with other students in the area, and did lots of activities with Irish teenagers in the evenings. This kept them engaged and gave us plenty of stories to share at the dinner table each evening!" Sofia.
